Dr. Louk A. Andrianos

Dr. Louk A. Andrianos is a World Council of Churches consultant on the Care for Creation, Sustainability, and Climate Justice. He was born in Madagascar and lives permanently on Crete, Greece. After his Master’s Degree in Hydrology (Brussels), he received his PhD. in Sustainable Development Sciences from the Technical University of Crete. With a second Master’s Degree in Plant Molecular Biology, he excels in eco-theology and astrobiology. He
started his university career at Simon Fraser University in Canada and has worked as Head of the Institute of Theology and Ecology at the Orthodox Academy of Crete. He is the founder organizer of the biannual international conference on Ecotheology and Environmental Ethics (ECOTHEE) and on Sustainable Alternatives for Poverty reduction and eco-Justice (SAPREJ) since 2008. He is member of the Season of Creation steering committee and collaborate with many other ecumenical and interfaith environmental networks worldwide (SOFTE, ECErN, Faiths4biodiversity, Planta Europa, etc.) to promote Biodiversity care and Creation Justice. Being the principal editor of the ECOTHEE and SAPREJ books series, he is also the author of the “Ecumenical Theology of Hope for the Common Oikos in WCC ecumenical Review (2019), and co-editor of the many Eco theological books, including “Kairos for Creation: The “Wuppertal Call” (2019), “Contemporary ecotheology, climate justice and environmental stewardship in world religions” (2021), “Penser les relations écologiques en théologie à l’ère de
l’anthropocène” (2023) and “An Anthology of Contemporary Ecotheology. Philosophy and Eco Justices Practices” (2024).He is a member of the Roya Institute Advisory Council and registered as a co-researcher at the University of the Western Cape for the project on “An Earthed Faith: Telling the Story amid the ‘Anthropocene’.
